We're finally back online. I know, it seems like we've been offline forever and it feels that way for us, too. As you might know, our web host lost our server just before Christmas. After almost a week of waiting for our site to be restored we learned that we were stuck with a website from December, 2008. Not exactly what I wanted to hear after spending nearly a month building a bigger and better SheEatsPlanets.com. The upside to do our data lose, however, is that I was able to look for carefully at a few of the features I had tried to put into the previous version of our site and find fixes for them.
And I did.
I'm super stoked to say that I've been able to include more features on the site. We've got a nifty little upcoming birthdays gadget on the side of some of the pages and this time it works. I tried to do it last time and couldn't get the feature to work. There's also a new and improved music player. There's a new show calendar tool that I've integrated and I've added more photos to our photo galleries. I'm working on slowly adding more photos to the collection. But the biggest and most exciting feature is the one that I'm using at this exact moment. We have a full-featured multi-user blog that all of our registered users can read and write to.
The blogs are something we tried to do on our last launch but, much to my frustration and disappointment, I couldn't get to work properly. Now, every one who registers as a Planet-Eater (fan) can create and maintain their own blog on SheEatsPlanets.com. Each of us (Sara, Matt, Tal, and I) have blogs as well. Right now there's nothing in them but they do exist and we'll be updating them from time to time. To keep you up-to-date on when we update, I've also added a feature that shows a list of the most recently updated blogs and of course we have separate links to each band member's blog in addition to this blog, our band blog. The band blog is much like the blog that we maintain on our Myspace page. We'll post band announcements here and general band commentary.
So, that's the bulk of the new features and content. I really and sincerely hope that you'll enjoy our website and take advantage of our features. We'd love nothing more than to build a community of friends and fans here on our site and hope you'll return time and time again. If you can think of other things you'd like to see on our site ---your site, really --- let me know. I may not be a computer programming genius but I'll do my best to make this the best band website that was built expressly for the fans.
Thanks for all of your support and for loving music just like we do. Happy New Year!
xoxo
